VALIDATE FEELINGS - A Positive Discipline Tool Card
Allow children to have their feelings so they can learn they are capable of dealing with them.
Positive Discipline is a program designed to teach young people to become responsible, respectful and resourceful members of their communities.
A natural consequence is anything that happens naturally, with no adult interference. When you stand in the rain, you get wet. When you don’t eat, you get hungry. When you forget your coat, you get cold.
Distract & Redirect
In the beginning of this week I thought this tool was used mostly with younger children. I used distract and redirect on a daily basis when my boys were toddlers. However, this week I had several opportunities to practice this tool in many different ways with my almost 6-year-old.
