Early 19th century dentures made from gutta-percha. These dentures were under construction. They are only partially made. Note that the two dentures are clipped together with wire. The dentist first added thin layers and scraped and hand cut the set so that they fit the patient. Once the dentures fit well, the wire was removed and the tooth cavity was hand shaped and the teeth were applied. Generally, teeth in this vintage dentures came from cadavers.
