The Dyatlov Pass incident resulted in the deaths of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural mountains on February 2, 1959. Investigators at the time determined that the hikers tore open their tent from within, departing barefoot into heavy snow and a temperature of −30 °C (−22 °F). Although the corpses showed no signs of struggle, two victims had fractured skulls, two had broken ribs, and one was missing her tongue. Their clothing, when tested, was found to be highly radioactive.

Mountain of the Dead: The Dyatlov Pass Incident. In1959, nine skiers headed out on a journey to the Otorten Mountain Range in the Urals. They never made it. The victims were found frozen to death having run away fro their tents, some in only their socks. Their skin was found to a very high radiation count. What spooked them so much that they abandoned their camp and any hope of survival?
