In 1982, the Atlanta Hawks acquired Dominique Wilkins, who won the Slam Dunk Contest in '85 and '90; teammate Spud Webb won the contest in ‘86, the same year when coach Mike Fratello won coach of the year. From 1985 - 1989, "Atlanta’s Air Force" was among the league's elite, winning 50 games or more each season and a third division title in '87.
