Frost Flower

The first hard freeze of the fall and I have a few "frost flowers" on the dead stems of my appropriately-named Frostweed, Verbesina virginica (also called White Crownbeard). I really need to spend some time working on the lighting with these. I cut this one out and put it in a jar in the freezer--perhaps I can get more detail shots later. I'll also crop the other stems to see if I get a good number of these tomorrow--the frost flowers form best on stems that have been cut fairly short. …
