The USS Iowa — the iconic World War II-era battleship that once served as transport to President Franklin D. Roosevelt — left San Francisco Bay on Saturday on its way to its new home in Southern California. It will be moored the San Pedro Harbor.

The battleship New Jersey firing a broadside of her 16 inch guns. Each gun fires a round that weighs about 15 hundred pounds. When the big guns fire like this, the ship moves sideways against the blast 9 feet. This was taken in the 1980s.
