We dove into our study of nonfiction text features over the last two weeks. We started with a sorting activity for fiction and nonfiction text features.

Book Activities are perfect for students to could complete for the different books they read as a class, for book clubs, or independently. This resource includes 20 one-page activities that can be used with any novel or story. They can be assigned with students’ weekly reading homework, as culminating projects at the end of novel, or for early finishers looking for enrichment activities. The work great for elementary students in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. Available for fiction and non-fiction.

I like this sticky not method because I can see myself using this in a daily five literacy work station format because I can laminate the anchor chart to reuse with sticky notes as an accountability piece for read to self or read with a buddy.

I like this sticky not method because I can see myself using this in a daily five literacy work station format because I can laminate the anchor chart to reuse with sticky notes as an accountability piece for read to self or read with a buddy.

This is one of the anchor charts I want to create for this year... and a mini-lesson I want to do.  I get so frustrated when children "fake read" and think that I don't know that they are not really engaged in the book. Hopefully by doing this mini-lesson, some of those behaviors can be remedied.
