This is a sphere made in the laboratory with a particle accelerator. The latter reach 99.5% of the speed of light. The particles then charge a large kinetic energy measured in millions of electrons Volts or MeV. The acrylic resin sphere is placed in the particle beam. By meeting the sphere the particles do not stop immediately: they lose energy progressively by striking the molecules of acrylic and form this magnificent fan dendritic resembling a "mini flash".
