Next time I got to Texas, I want to get some bluebonnet seeds. They would be annuals in this climate, but if I gather the seeds once the flowers are spent, I could regrow them year after year...

The Texas Bluebonnet is the State Flower of the Lonestar State. The shape of the lovely petals reminded Texans of the bonnets worn by the pioneer women who came west, thus its name. Not here would enjoy going East Texas

Where to See the Best Bluebonnets in 2017

BLUEBONNET PARADISE: Just south of Dallas on Interstate 45 is the town of Ennis, Texas. Ennis boasts over 40 miles of mapped Bluebonnet Trails for auto touring, sponsored by the Ennis Garden Club. These are said to be the oldest such trails in the state, and tens of thousands of visitors make the trek each year. The Ennis Bluebonnet festival is April 15-17th, and the Ennis Garden club does the work of locating the most impressive blooms for visitors on a weekly basis.
