Mortuary Sword Dated: circa 1630 Medium: steel Sword with ‘Mortuary’ hilt and with a curved blade with saw-back (of a hanger most probably). Apparently this is a very early example of a mortuary sword. This type is ancestral to naval cutlass. Source: Copyright 2014 © The Fitzwilliam Museum, University of Cambridge, UK
