This is part of the free editing set from First Grade Wow. For kindergarten, I use it to show what they can do (smiley face in the check box) and what their newest personal challenge is (I highlight the check box). They keep it in their writing folders. It helps differentiate learning and gives each student focus. There are many other useful pages in the packet, too. All free!
Hamburger Paragraph Picture Template... Teaching kiddos how to write a paragraph is pretty tasty with this helpful template. Helps students focus on including a topic sentence, supporting details, and a conclusion. Visual learners will also benefit from the "hamburger" comparison as they develop writing skills in organization, sentence variation and idea focus. Enjoy!
"I bought 10 cent yellow lense free glasses and have the first graders wear them as I read the mini posters. They go to writer's work shop wearing the glasses...I tell them the glasses are magic and will help them write better...they love to play and imagine being great authors...Thanks to the creator of Sailing Through First Grade...She is amazing!"
Sentence Surgery…laminated unedited sentence strips, bandaid strips for ending punctuation, small round bandages for commas and quotations, tongue depressors to mark capitalization, and ‘Emergency Kit’ paper bags w/ red cross on them (to keep surgery supplies). Can be adjusted to use K-6…the kids loved it!
