The tarsoly plate was found in 1896. 8-10 years before, during the course of earthmoving work, the grave of a warrior buried together with his horse was found there. László Vidovics and Endre Tompos uncovered further 17 graves in 1896. The skeletal material from the cemetery has still not been analyzed by an anthropologist.
