We think of Joel Sternfeld as the third Co-Founder of Friends of the High Line. His 2001 series of photographs, called "Walking the High Line," helped Friends of the High Line build public awareness of the elevated freight rail line. Today, his photographs remind us of the wild landscape that inspired the design of the park itself.
