Being able to find a fairly large and flat piece of land to build on was the first major success of this project. After that came the beautiful and modern design of the house created by architecture studio RS+ Robert Skitek. They managed to bring their vision to life in 2018 when they completed this gorgeous residence. In total the house offers 485 square meters of living space divided on two floors. Check it out here.
Despite sitting in a residential area of São Paulo, Brazil, the Ibsen House is an oasis of private luxury. Hidden by greenery and strategic slatted wood panels that blend with the cladding of the angular home, the structure allows the residents to revel in the outdoor spaces with complete discretion.
Although this house has completely replaced the old barn that used to occupy this same site, it did so while keeping its memory and spirit alive. This is a family home designed and built by studio OYO Architects in a lovely rural area called Drogen in Belgium. Its floor plan basically mimics the old barn and adds a new extension which brings more indoor spaces and also makes the transition towards the garden smoother and more seamless and organic. A small and open corner lot from Colina, Mexico has been beautifully filled out by studio Di Frenna Arquitectos just last year, in 2020. They built here an inviting house which was dubbed Casa Mao. It’s a 389 square meter home with a simple and modern design on the outside and a cozy modern-industrial vibe on the inside. Check it out here.
Old structures hold a lot of history and have a lot of unique charm and beauty. That makes it worth preserving such structures whenever possible because by transforming them we get to blend the old with the new and to take advantage of the wonderful character they have and that can’t be recreated in other ways.
