Homeschool. My kids are older and we are not reading aloud each book daily five times. Reading and go along activities are all on one day for each book.

CLIMBING KANSAS MOUNTAINS (FIAR 3) activity: coloring page. This was after the 8yo pulled the "K" encyclopedia for the 10yo to find the "Kansas" entry and report to us the state symbols. This postcard/stamp image doesn't include all the symbols but it does represent the read aloud book well. We printed on handy cardstock so the kids could send them in the mail.
Amber on the Mountain (Picture Puffins) by Tony Johnston (not explicitly summer). My 8 14 yo think it is a book worth owning. Mom reads title, author, painter, summary, and dedication; child reads copyright date. Same day activities from the FIAR manual included: Language--simile, Math--count the number of letters in the alphabet, Science--discuss mountain air and oxygen, Art--oil painting
