These are actually bird's-eye, also known as speedwell (Veronica persica) that I found near Goshen Creek on the Blue Ridge Parkway. They're really quite tiny, smaller than bluets in fact, and their beauty often goes unnoticed. If they had feelings they likely would suffer from the "Godzilla" syndrome as people tromp through them unknowingly. Those ferns are only 3 to 4 inches in length, which should give you a sense of scale.
