Seam 3: Feather stitch, Straight stitch, French knot Bring the needle to the front of the fabric at the top left prong of the first feather. Be sure to leave the tiny dots alone. Now bring the needle back to the front at the bottom of the first feather, which is the bottom of the V. Pull the thread through to make the first stitch. You can…

Hello and thank you for visiting me! Today I would like to share with you the progress I have made learning how to construct a crazy quilt block. I am following the Basic Crazy Quilt Course which is organised and run by Kathy Shaw. Last time, I had learned how to choose a balanced combination of fabrics, how to piece a basic crazy quilt block and then how to hoop it up correctly following Kathy's brilliant instructions. Since then, I have learned all about various beads, charms and trims. It…

Seam 6: Herringbone stitch, Straight stitch, Lazy daisy stitch, French knot This is a beautiful design made from several easy stitches. The design is created one stitch type at a time. Then the little straight stitch fans are made. Lazy daisy stitches and then french knots complete the design. It looks much more…

Seam 4: Cretan stitch, lazy daisy stitch This stitch is worked similarly to blanket stitch in that the stitch is grabbed and bent by the next stitch. Bring the needle to the front at the left side of the seam. Insert the needle at the end of the bent line and back up at the bend, wrapping the thread to the back of the needle. Pull the thread through. Work the next stitch the same way. To finish the seam, bring the needle up at the bend and make a small tacking stitch over long stitch. Add…

Only two more tasks to learn on my Crazy Quilt Beginners Class - it has been a lot of fun learning the Silk Ribbon Flowers. Here's Task #9 - pretty little blue flowers. These flowers are made by using a 2mm Silk Ribbon and making a french knot and then piercing the needle in and out along the ribbon creating a fold, until you take the needle back through the material near where you came up. The trick is not to pull the ribbon too tight or you end up with a small mess. Small Blue roses Task…
