Enjoy some early American folk art in the newly restored Joseph and Emma Smith home in Kirtland, OH! The house was recently reacquired and restored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after ten years of design research. The trim color is original, and at least one piece of furniture is original to the home - the dining table in the parlor. Some pics of my visit to @bunrattycastle.ie and folk museum in Ireland. I was struck by the very bright colours used inside and outside of some of the thatched cottages. A guide explained that Irish cottagers used bright colours as this was a Celtic style stemming back hundreds of years and British settlers found it unsettling. They would often share paint pots with neighbours. Many Irish buildings are still painted in these bright colours. #bunrattyfolkpark #bunrattycastle #historicco...
