Blind embossing doesn’t need ink or special tools. The idea is to cut shapes out of cardboard or use some string or other found objects and make an imprint of their texture. There is something very fun and unique about a subtle shape embossed in a piece of paper.

The Sláma Graphic Ball Press is a handheld printing press for use in relief, intaglio and lithographic techniques. Made in the Czech Republic, it is designed to be flexible, portable and easy to use on thinner Eastern style and thicker Western style paper. Based on the traditional Japanese style baren, the press consists of a round metal disc, with an ergonomic wooden handle. The Sláma Press contains metal balls that rotate around the axis of the disc to achieve a more even print. Diana Parkhouse - Paper Artist Person on Instagram: "This is a demonstration that for intaglio etching you don't need a press. You don't need a washing mangle. You don't need a cold press laminator. You don't need an x cut express. You don't need new sheet metals. You don't need chemicals. You don't need drypoint perspex. You don't need etching paper to print on. You can use some or all those things, yes! But you could also use an aluminium drink can, an old craft knife blade (though I do love my little electric engraver as seen in the video), a castor wheel off a chair and some cheap watercolour paper. In the video I share my image transfer method. You don't even need to do that. You can scratch your design directly onto the can with as much or as little sketch prep as you like, though r Copper Metal Art, Printing On Metal, Metal Etching Art, Print On Transparent Paper, Tetra Pak Etching, Drypoint Etching Techniques, Tetra Pak Printmaking, Dry Point Etching Ideas, Metal Etching Tutorial
