What is an ice dam? An ice dam occurs when a ridge of ice forms at the edge of a roof (roof eave) and prevents melted snow (water) from draining off the roof. The water that backs up behind the dam can intrudes under the shingles, penetrate the underlayment and deck sheathing. It then saturates the attic insulation and ceiling drywall. You may discover water droplets on the ceiling which also present as a large round water stain. BLOG WRITTEN BY OUR CEO
