To live in the present is no easy task for anyone — we somehow seem to be living either in the past or the future. Celebrities, just like us, also enjoy spotting differences and similarities between “then and now” collages that throw us years or decades back in time. Looking at the past is an opportunity to see how far we’ve come, how much things have changed, and moreover, how much things have remained the same.

We look at photos of 10 New York City street corners and show that in the big city, some things change and some things stay the same. Check out the first round here.

Today (October 2nd) is the 60th Anniversary of Charlie Brown, Snoopy and all the Peanuts Gang. In 1950 Charles Schulz debuted his comic strip of little people (kids) that acted more like adults than children. Starting only in seven newspapers, "Peanuts" would go on to be the most successful newspaper strip ever printed. There are still places today where we can see remnants of the past, and Nick Sullivan's images of historic photos reunited with their modern locations help us find these places. Sullivan, who is also Esquire's fashion director, finds historic photos of London, Paris and New York and then finds their actual locations.

As we reflect on the 70th anniversary of The Blitz these montages blend vintage shots of 1940 with colour images of the same locations today.
