Isabelle Collin Dufresne, the French-born artist, actress and author known as Ultra Violet, was the beauty among the superstars of Andy Warhol’s glory days at his studio, the Factory.

Founded in New York in 1991, Matthew Marks Gallery represents thirty-one artists of different generations working in a wide range of mediums, including painting, sculpture, photography, and printmaking.

The transgender actress and Factory muse died over the weekend.

From The Velvet Underground to the silver studio-cum-squat-palace that was the Factory, Andy Warhol’s reach extended far beyond painting and screenprints. So ingrained is he in the fabric of modern culture it is virtually impossible to escape his influence even today. A new exhibition at the Centre Pompidou-Metz in France explores his many collaborations and the relationship between music, dance and art in his unfading body of work.

The three hour film, “Andy Warhol’s FACTORY PEOPLE”, tells the story of the 60’s Silver Factory that Andy founded in 1964 in an abandoned hat factory on East 47th Street in New York City. The Silver Factory lasted until 1968 when Andy gave up the lease and moved to the White Factory on Union Square. Shortly after moving in the Spring of ’68 Andy was shot by Valerie Solanas and this event bookends the period of time covered in “Factory People”. The idea of the film is to tell the real story…
