Visit The Geological Park of Bauxite Mining, Gánt

The Geological Park of Bauxite Mining in Gánt was first discovered in 1920 by the engineer Jenő Balás. The park was once the biggest producer of bauxite in all of Europe. In total, the mine produced around 10.000.000 tons of bauxite, which was especially harnessed by the Germans in World War 2. Today, the bauxite mine is a museum where people can get a feel of how the mine worked and see the workers’ tools in a 100-meter-long mine tunnel.

Tata Castle is a former summer resort of Hungarian kings. It is located on the northern side of Lake Öreg, close to Hungary’s border with Slovakia.
