Mary Pickford.  Together with Douglas Fairbanks, Charlie Chaplin, and D.W. Griffith she created the production company United Artists and helped promote the  Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.  She also belonged to the National Woman's Party and pushed for equal rights for women.

Maude Fealy,1883-1971. Born Maude Mary Hawk in Memphis,Tennessee. Appeared in her first silent film in 1911 for Thanhouser Studios, making another 18 by 1917. She did not perform in film for another 14 years. Throughout her career, M.F. taught acting. By the 1930's, she lived in CA. & at age 50 returned to acting but in lesser roles. She had 3 unsuccessful marriages but no children. Maude rests in Abbey of the Psalms Mausoleum at Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
