They are one of the most important tools in my studio 👩‍🎨🎨 How do I use a value scale? 👀 ☑️ First, I use my hand-painted scales to mix color strings on my palette. ☑️ Every color is mixed into a range of 7 values. ☑️ The rows of color strings line up so the columns are all the same value, which means I can mix colors in the same column without shifting the value. ☑️ This is really helpful for the second ...

At night before bed Vienna and I have been reading “The Secret Garden.” The whole book is full of magic, but when we got to this portion with Archibald Craven by the stream, it swept me away! My mind pictured a landscape to paint…a stream, blue forget-me-nots, a moss carpet..soft and like a dream, healing and peaceful. I hope you enjoy the painting and the story that inspired it. Adapted from Frances Hodgson Burnett’s The Secret Garden.
