Caracal / Desert Lynx (Caracal caracal) Its most prominent feature is its long(2 inch)black ear tufts.It is smaller than a Lynx and has short, reddish-brown fur with no markings.Melanistic (black) forms occur.A greyish form occurs in Israel. It is slender with a short tail(longer than the Lynx)and no ruff. Its diet includes birds, small mammals and antelope fawns.
