.Skull. by KimberleePhotography.deviantart.com

Photo taken at my school. I don& know why, but I have a fascination for human bones. Perhaps it& the horror and beauty combined.

As can be found throughout the book, Hamlet is obsessed with death. He has constantly been contemplating suicide so when he holds the skull in his hand all his questions are answered. The skull to Hamlet represents how we become nothing after death and we all become equal in death as we are just rotting corpses and jumbles of bones.

As an artist - especially a portrait artist - you have to become very familiar with the human skull. It is the foundation of the face. If you are ever going to accurately capture someone& likeness, you need to understand what lies beneath their skin.
