Free Stuff in London - The Science Museum is the most visited science and technology museum in Europe. There are over objects on display, including world-famous objects such as the Apollo 10 command capsule and Stephenson’s Rocket.
This biographical museum, designed by Casson Mann, presents its subject in three dimensions. We see Churchill from every angle – as a leader, as a father and husband, as an insecure young journalist, as an astute politician, as a writer, and as a man subject to depression and inspiration.
“Casson Mann’s unique ability to understand, interpret and translate into imaginative design solutions our most vague and notional of ideas and needs produced a museum which, rightly, receives constant professional credit and excited public approval years after its opening.” Phil Reed, Director of the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms
The Churchill War Rooms is the first museum in the UK dedicated to the life and achievements of a politician housed away from the setting of a private house. With no precedent to dictate what the public might expect from a ‘biographical museum’, Casson Mann created an environment and experience that allows the visitor to feel like they are ‘meeting the man’ by meshing together a rich mix of documentation, artefacts, audiovisuals and interactives.
