"Dreamlands, Wastelands" - Polaroid emulsion lift on paper 2013

This emulsion lift piece was created as a tie in piece to work alongside my Margate/Benidorm series of Polaroids which will be published by later this year. Using 669 and ID-UV film, this piece combines more than 80 Polaroids to build the final composite (this doesn't include the wastage which is about 3x that number!). This isn't made digitally, but by the Polaroid emulsion lift process, where the layers of the Polaroids are separated and floating into water before…

This fine art photography piece, titled foggy cedar key, was created in March 2011. It is an original, one of a kind, real live Polaroid emulsion lift. Yeah! Made with the kind of film that is now extinct..... okay, almost extinct.... I have a few boxes stock-piled that allow me to continue to make make my art (it makes me so happy I cry happy tears!). This image was captured in Cedar Key, Florida, on the foggiest day of the year. (Just my guess, it was foggy from sun up until late in…

I was going through some old scans recently and came across these images I took with a Kiev 60 medium format SLR. Produced by the Arsenal factory in the Ukraine Republic since the early eighties its basic design was based on the classic Pentagon Six and shares several of the same features and can utilize the same lenses and accessories. The lens is an 80mm Volna-3. I have no idea what settings I used at the time, although by the look of the depth of focus it was probably around 2.8. If I…
