Berlin Blockade-This cartoon of 14 July 1948 by EH Shepard for the British magazine Punch shows Stalin watching as storks fly coal and food into Berlin. The Airlift was three weeks in when this cartoon was drawn.

The Soviets blockaded Berlin by cutting off all means of transport to the city. The US overcame this blockade by airlifting supplies. Thus causing the Soviet leader to have respect for Truman and his witty thinking.
