National Museum of WWII Aviation in Colorado Springs, Colorado is the owner of Lockheed P-38F s/n 42-12652. This P-38 is currently undergoing restoration to flyable condition at Westpac Restoration. On August 12, 2015 she was able to roll on her gear for the first time in 70 years. This P-38F will have her first flight sometime before the end of the year. P-38 Lightning - This plane had a distinctive sound from it's turbochargers. While there are a couple still flying to this day, most (all?) operate sans-turbo. It also killed Antoine de St. Exupéry (author of "Le Petit Prince").
