The extravagant Moorish Castello di Sammezzano, built on a Tuscan hill in 1605 for Ximenes d'Aragona. It was redesigned between 1853 and 1889 and later became a luxury hotel that closed in the 1990s. It was abandoned until April 2012, when a committee was formed to promote and enhance it.
