some crafting supplies are laying out on a wooden table, including glue and paper
Francine Murray Dunigan on Instagram: "****Disclaimer. After posting earlier this week on using the gold leaf on the gel plate I had a few of you reach out in regard to working with gold leaf. First let me say that I am in no way an expert on gold leaf. I really just love experimenting with different techniques on the gel plate. But with that being said this is what I learned after posting last week. The gold will most likely tarnish. I should wear gloves so that the oil from my hands won’t tarnish the gold. Also the water in the paint will most likely tarnish the gold as well. (I haven’t figured out how to get around that one) The paper will need to be sealed to prevent tarnishing as well. I do typically use my papers with collage work and put many layers of varnish and matte medium and
Wonky stenciled buildings
Who says buildings have to be perfectly vertical? Yes, architects, gravity, building codes...but those don't apply to a gel printed neighborhood! Gel Printing With Old Keys
What to do with old keys? They make amazing monoprints, so use them to create art following these instructions by Gelli Arts® artist Birgit Koopsen: Roll out a thin layer of acrylic paint. Place the keys on top. Make sure not to move them in the wet paint. Push them down with an acrylic block or chipboard to avoid picking up any paint from around the keys. Let everything dry. Remove the keys without leaving fingerprints in the paint. Apply a new layer of acrylic paint to pull the print.
Gel Printing With A Yoghurt Container
Gel printing with items saved from waste materials. The imprint a yoghurt tub leaves in the paint on a gel printing plate allows for another item to be printed in the middle. Tips from Gelli Arts® artist Birgit Koopsen: Use a slow-dry medium for a longer working time. Wipe off the paint from the printing items to make them pick up more paint from the plate. Let the first layer dry before adding the pick-up layer. Leave the paper on the plate until everything is dry. #gelliarts #monoprinting

a piece of paper with the words split complementary on it and an image of a box
Diana Garrison on Instagram: "The color gods are still resting after all the January challenges so this gel print was created for the @printersolstice challenge prompt “split complementary” colors. To use a split complementary color scheme, select a hue on the color wheel (my choice was violet) then select the two colors that sit to either side of the complementary color. Yellow is the complement of violet, so the split complements are yellow-orange and yellow-green. For these, I chose yellow deep and brilliant yellow green. . #gelprinting #monoprinting #printmaking #printersolstice2024 #printersolstice"
