Horthy Miklós had commanded the Austro-Hungarian fleet in WW I. After Kun Béla Communists seized power in Hungary 1919, the counterrevolutionary government put Horthy in command of its forces. With the consent of the little Entente, Romanian forces invaded Hungary. Horthy entered Budapest (Nov, 1919), and in 1920 was made regent and head of the state. He guided Hungary through the years between the two world wars.
