Willem de Kooning (Róterdam1904 - Long Island; 1997); pintor neerlandés nacionalizado estadounidense.  En los años posteriores a la Segunda Guerra Mundial, de Kooning pintó dentro del movimiento del expresionismo abstracto, y dentro del seno de esta tendencia, sigue la action painting o pintura gestual.
