Formed from a block of fossilized wood from Indonesia’s East Java province—it takes anywhere from 10,000 to millions of years for a tree to ossify like this. Stone trunks are dug out of the ground and cut into slabs. They’re then turned into bathtubs, carved by stonemasons for between four and six weeks. The advantage of this process: You can design the tub to your exact needs, from six to eight feet long and with whatever shape works best in your bathroom.
A statement tub of this kind weighs between 2,000 and 3,500 pounds and the entire process from order to delivery takes up to six months. Output is limited partly because there are only so many petrified trunks large enough to have new lives as tubs. These are unique, show stopping additions to any bathroom.
