Indian katar, 18th century. Wootz blade. 18 7/8 in. long. 16.2 oz. The inscriptions at the base of each side of the blade read: "Help from Allah and a speedy victory. So give the glad tidings to the believers" (Koran 61:13). Met Museum.

Indian (possibly Kutch) pesh kabz / karud shaped blade, 19th century,  watered-steel blade of typical long tapering shape, the gold-damascened decoration with floral spray to the bridge and interlocking foliated palmettes to the hilt, the original hilt replaced with a rock-crystal grip and the pommel in the form of an elephant head, possibly added later, 17¼in.
