1855 dressing gown: Green satin dressing gown with floral print; trimmed in 1/2" black silk ribbon with 4 stripes of black velvet on front; simple round collar; 14 hook fasteners down front to waist then skirt is open to the floor; 3/4 length sleeves trimmed with 3 black ribbons at shoulder and 5 black ribbons at wrist; bodice lined with tan glazed linen and 4 stays; skirt lined in pink/white printed cotton;  Worn by donor's grandmother Jane Wadham Stevens

Finely striped silk, probably American, ca 1840-1860. High bodice, fan front, vee point; open sleeves, double at the opening, triple puff at armscye; pleated skirt. At throat, self fabric bow and pinked tails. MFA BOSTON
