Fruit spirits made from concentrates, semi-dried or dried fruit cannot legally be called pálinka.  A popular saying in Hungary says: what can be used to prepare jam can also be used to produce pálinka.

Nincs karácsony mézes pálinka nélkül. Még azoknak is kötelező egy pici kupica akik - mint én - kifejezetten nem szeretik a pálinkát. A nagyi minden évbe kevercselte ezt az itókát, összemelegített mézet és pálinkát és már kész is volt a szép sárga, ám igen alkoholos üdvözlő ital. Nálunk ez éppúgy hozzátartozott a karácsonyi áldáshoz, mint az asztalon díszelgő alma, dió, fokhagyma. Az idén egy kicsit fűszeresebbre vettem az eredeti receptet. Csak langyos-melegre melegítettem fel 2 jó evőkanál…
