This joint is used to join two beams that, individually, would be too short to bridge a gap, like in an old farmhouse on a load bearing wall. Interesting joint but for what?

A little bit more fine tuning and this joint will be ready to go together. 7 more to go, but that's just the start of this piece. It will get a lot more complicated. Note the ruler for scale @emmajenningsartist

I decided to take out some rough pieces of wood to start practising some basic cuts that I have learnt. I called this project ‘Corners’. It was always my intention to make a frame or a box with various types of joints as a 3D textbook for myself and for future references. Please correct me if my terminologies are wrong, but I believe these are the dovetail joint, lap joint, through-dowel joint, and open through mortise and tenon joint (Bridle joint).
