Butterfly Life Cycle Craft -- Emerging Butterfly Craft

Life Cycle of a Butterfly: Teach your students the full butterfly life cycle with this creative emerging butterfly craft. This life cycle craft illustrates the butterfly as it emerges from the chrysalis. This butterfly craft is a great hands on way to demonstrate the butterfly life cycle that will work for science centers too. Your students will color or paint the black and white printables and use the directions to fold their emerging butterfly. I have also included a color version of the…

KLASSENKUNST: Misch-Vögelchen

Misch-Vögelchen – Klassenkunst

Vogelgezwitscher kunterbunt…

Students began with a ball of clay which they then rolled and made very smooth. Then, they stuck their thumbs in their balls of clay to form pinch pots. Each student then took their pinch pot, turned it on its side, then scored and slipped features onto the pot to create creatures. This was a great creative outlet for the kids.

Elementary Art Gallery

This project was a favorite among my 5th graders this year. All of their pieces turned out great and students were able to learn and practice new clay skills. Sneak Peek @ Art Room Mural and Collaborative Circle Paintings

I am surprised that I am up posting right now as today was an exhausting day. The kind of day I would not trade for anything but I am tired. The art room was double booked all day today and will be again tomorrow to make sure that all of my 1-5 grade artists are able to meet Will "Kasso" Condry, Muralist, to view him painting a mural in the art room "live" and to participate in a collaborative circle painting project that I am running. Busy, busy, busy. All that were in the art room today…

How To: Decoupage Flower Pots

New to the medium of decoupage, I ventured out and got my first bottle of Mod Podge to start exploring the art -- now I am officially addicted and want to decoupage EVERYTHING! The warm sunny weather in San Diego this past weekend inspired me to plant some new plants and give the pots I put them in a bit of flair. I decided to decoupage some Terracotta plant holders with materials I had around the house. It was very easy and very fun -- read on to learn how to make your own decoupage flower…

Bubble Wrap Stomp Painting - make some bubble wrap "boots" then dip in paint and stomp around to create art!

Bubble Wrap Stomp Painting

In my home, I have a closet of kids art and activity supplies, and when I am looking for ideas, I sometimes just go and look inside and see what inspires me. Today, I noticed some easel paper and bubble wrap. We have had lots of fun with bubble wrap in the past, creating Bubble Wrap Prints and Painting with Rolling Pins and Bubble Wrap. I decided to pair up bubble wrap and paint again, but this time I wanted it to be more of a gross motor experience. And so, Bubble Wrap Stomp Painting was…
