Bristol’s Wiper and True taproom is a ‘sheltered, green oasis’ for beer fans
Local practice Studio B designed the taproom – Wiper and True’s second in the city – carving two new openings into the building to ensure it is flooded with natural light. The studio installed an 18-metre-long glass wall framed by mint green steel to separate the brewing equipment from the seating area. Berkshire restaurant Woven by Adam Smith bathes diners in golden light
Martin Hulbert Design was tasked with designing the restaurant’s interiors. A plaster relief by artisans Locker and Riley is the centrepiece of the 44-seater dining room, detailed with root vegetables and seasonal ingredients plucked directly from the British landscape. Overhead, a lighting installation by British architect Umut Yamac mimics the dappled woodland canopy, pooling golden diners in soft golden light. Inside Max Richter and Yulia Mahr’s minimalist Oxfordshire creative retreat
Architecture and sustainability shape everything at Studio Richter Mahr – including its acoustic thumbprint. The ‘slow retreat’ allows the natural rhythms of rural living and curiosity to guide creativity, giving space and time to experimentation for visual artists, filmmakers and musicians; a radical departure from the high-pace, time-pressured recording studio model. #design #inspiration #interiors #architecture

Five UK homes under 600 sq ft that maximise small footplates

a small black cabin sitting on top of a grass covered field next to a tree
Trees at Tughall is a trio of minimalist cabins on England’s Northumbrian coast
These Scandi-style cabins are a stone’s throw from the sandy shorefront of Northumberland’s Beadnell Beach. Koto designed the Northumbrian holiday homes, which are located within a small wood on a farm an hour north of Newcastle, close to Bamburgh. According to the design practice, the minimalist huts are intended to encourage slow living, be ‘elemental in nature’ and immerse visitors in the countryside that surrounds them. #design #architecture #cabin #ecoretreat #sustainable #eco
