The Parasite Fighter concept was born in WWI, rediscovered between the wars and developed during the Cold War.  Parasite aircraft are smaller fighter aircraft conveyed by a bomber to an operational area, then deployed to protect the larger aircraft.  The F9C Sparrowhawks on the Akron are the most famous example, but the USAF attempted to field parasite fighters well into the jet age (See the XF-85 "Goblin"), until the idea was made obsolete by advances in mid-air refueling Wwii Fighter Planes, Boeing Aircraft, Drones, Navy Aircraft Carrier, Wwii Fighters, Experimental Aircraft, Jet Age

New confirmed displays are the Scarborough Armed Forces Day on June 28th and RAF Cosford on June 8th. Cosford is home to the fabulous Cold War museum where you can see the three V-Force aircraft together and learn more about this remarkable period. The Tu95s would fly between Iceland & Norway to communicate with Soviet submarines transiting south from Archangel to their missle firing sectors off of Bermuda.
