The Mandarin duck is a medium-size perching duck, closely related to the North American wood duck. Referred to by the Chinese as Yuan-yang, they are frequently featured in Oriental art and are regarded as a symbol of conjugal affection and fidelity.
Senegal's Lake Retba, or as the French refer to it Lac Rose: harmless halophilic bacteria make the water pink. Lake Retba has a high salt content, much like that of the Dead Sea, allowing people to float effortlessly in the massive pink water.
Red panda: unlike their giant panda cousins, these pandas have a more varied appetite and will eat much more than merely bamboo. However, a single red panda may still consume over bamboo leaves each day!
